lower and mid level middle class seniors have a bit of money and don't qualify for assistance and don't have enough money to get into an assisted living facility. There needs to be a way for them to be able to get assistance without going bankrupt.
Patricia Doylestown, PALook! We ALL need a cost of living raise, something seniors and the disabled have not gotten in three straight years! Our bills went up, but our money did not!
Isker East Saint Louis, ILLife is hard for me too and I work. I know of several seniors that struggle to make ends meet. These people have worked hard all their lives and now they have to make the decision on whether to buy medicine, pay their bills or have food to eat? This is not right.
Kathy Rhinelander, WILess money, more worries as health care costs grow, eroding pensions. Culture seems to not value seniors or others who cannot help themselves. What kind of people are we?
Kathryn Cincinnati, OHJust got off the phone with my Mother-in-law who is 84 yo. She was a single mother who raised 9 children. She told me that the government keeps cutting back on her income. She can only keep $2K in an account; but worries to have, at least $5K, for her funeral expenses. I told her that $5K is not alot of money to have in a Savings account in preparation for her end result. She understands that the economy has caused changes in her receiving assistance, including medicare/medicaide etc. The crisis in Japan makes her cry because she was in Poland during the War and went through losing her family, her possessions, and only having the clothes on her back at age 11. Most people are looking at what is happening in the World as the End of Times. For what time we have left to live on this earth, let us live in comfort: Food, clothing, shelter with an added bonus to Enjoy God's Beauty on this Earth with Our Loved Ones. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. God Bless You!!
